OUR ENGAGEMENT WITH COMMUNITIES

Kyokuyo Shipyard does not pursue profit and technology alone.
While keeping our eyes on the world, we hold a deep appreciation for Shimonoseki and the society that have nurtured us, and we strive to deliver meaningful value in return.
We will continue to shape the future together with our communities and society.

Enriching the World from the Waterfront City Shimonoseki

Since our founding, both our offices and shipyards have always been located in Shimonoseki. Even today, most of our employees live and build their lives here.
As a company nurtured by this city, we are committed to contributing to the development of the local community and economy, so that Shimonoseki remains a place that is vibrant, comfortable, and fulfilling to live in.

At the same time, when we broaden our perspective, we see that our engagement extends beyond the local community. It reaches across the nation, the industry, and the world.
As one company based in a corner of the planet, we share both aspirations and a sense of responsibility with people around the world, and we are committed to steadily carrying out what we can – and what we must – without losing sight of our purpose.

WHAT WE DO IN THE COMMUNITIES

Inviting local elementary school students to our shipyard and ceremonies

For children, seeing a large vessel up close is a truly eye-opening experience.
Their excitement, the cheers that naturally arise, and their sparkling eyes are our greatest reward.

Inviting local junior high school students to our shipyard
Stacks Image 55965

We welcome junior high school students to visit our shipyard.
It is a unique experience – not quite a typical children’s field trip, nor a high school-level technical program.
The perspectives they bring, distinctive to their age, offer fresh and inspiring insights.

As climate change becomes an increasingly urgent global challenge, Kyokuyo Shipyard is working toward achieving zero emissions for 100% of its newly built vessels by around 2035.
