Once you see it, you can't forget it!

This ship makes people look back!

Although people may have thought of it, no shipyard as ever attempted to realize it!

(responses from the industry)

The stunning and innovative semi-spherical-shaped bow (SSS-BOW) is a technology that Kyokuyo has created from the ground up, from conception to design and construction. We have obtained relevant patents not only in Japan but in the U.S., Europe, Korea, China, and other countries around the world.

In a conservative industry where people tend to take the easy way out, saying "there is no precedent" or "we don't have time for this," we boldly took up the challenge because there was no precedent. The results have been rewarded with the prestigious Japan Ship of the Year Awards and enthusiastic support from customers.

AERODYNAMICS TO REDUCE FUEL COST AND GHG EMISSIONS

Ship design has focused primarily on reducing drag below the water's surface, with little attention paid to wind resistance above the water's surface. The SSS-BOW effectively reduces wind resistance without sacrificing cargo capacity or accommodation volume by giving the bow a "spherical" form, a three-dimensional shape with the smallest surface area for a given volume. It saves fuel consumption and contributes to GHG reduction significantly.

In the development process, in addition to tank tests, wind tunnel tests are conducted to analyze the shape under and above the water surface. Following the first SSS-BOW ship, m.v. CITY OF ST. PETERSBURG, a PCC built in 2011, we have expanded our product line to include container carriers and cement carriers. Through continuous constructions, we are further refining our aerodynamics and craftsmanship know-how.
