Introducing our reefer carriers for transportation of refrigerated and frozen cargoes.
Another best-seller of Kyokuyo is our reefer vessels, which transport marine and agricultural products or other foodstuffs refrigerated or frozen to the place of consumption. Being the first shipyard in Japan to build a ship with NK's CA (Controlled Atmosphere) Notation, Kyokuyo has built more than 40 reefers so far.
The most important feature of a refrigerated cargo ship is to maintain stable cargo freshness. In order to prevent uneven freezing, we conduct airflow simulations in the hold from the design stage to ensure optimal airflow that will never cause damage to the cargo.
We have built up unique expertise in the refrigeration system and thermal protection design by conducting joint research with equipment manufacturers and insulation specialists, while leveraging the know-how accumulated through decades of experience in reefer building for a variety of shipowners.
Kyokuyo has extensive experience in ultra-low temperature reefers, which ensure the freshness of fish by performing quick freezing down to -50°C to minimize damage to fish tissue while inhibiting the breakdown of proteins and oxidation of fatty substances.
Our reefers are also known for their excellent fish-tendering performance.
Is it fish or fruit? And what kind is it? Where and how will the cargo be loaded? The specifications required for a reefer ship vary considerably, depending on the type of your cargo and your operation pattern.
Cargo capacity, refrigeration specifications, or availability of onboard processing facilities - Kyokuyo designs each vessel individually according to the customer's needs. For example, the temperature of the entire cargo space can be designed to normal range (-30 deg.), ultra-low range (-50 deg.) or both; or a ship can have two sections for different temperature specifications.
