NEWS 219 : JUST LIKE REAL CEREMONIES
Kyokuyo's 3rd "Family Plant Tour" was held on Sunday, November 13, 2016. This time we opened the door for not only our employees but also families of subcontracting companies' staffs as well as students who will join Kyokuyo next April. As result, we had 52 participants, including parents, children, brothers, sisters, grandpas and grandmas! It's quite a big event!
After a warm welcome speech by the company's Senior Managing Director Tetsuo Mitsui, a couple of staffs tried to explain, by turns, what their family member did here. It was not a huge success, even with upgraded presentation tools, but they could get interest from many guests : several children gazed keenly at the screen showing how a ship was built and some seniors seemed to look back on their younger days working at Kyokuyo... Quite impressive.
Then the tour started. The 53 participants, now in 6 groups, explored our plant, from building dock, pre-fabrication shop and block assembly factory. We are confident that every guest enjoyed the experience, thanks to informative and entertaining explanations given by our senior staffs. When they arrived at the final destination - a newbuilding ship - the children got extremely excited by the adventure into the ship labyrinth!
Like previous cases (1st / 2nd), the main event was conducted onboard. It was a "mock" naming and delivery ceremonies! This time, Mr. Shota Saeki, working for our subcontractor "Sho-e", and his family were chosen as the VIPs for the event. When the sponsor, Mrs. Haruka Saeki, named their ship "Souma & Hayato" after their 2 kids, and the whole Saeki family joined their hands to cut the tethering rope, a bottle of champagne (filled with water, FYI) was smashed on the ship's hull, and confetti and multi-colored paper tapes rained down, just like the real ceremonies!
The 3rd Family Plant Tour was ended successfully, thanks to tireless efforts by organizing staffs. It could also offer a good opportunity for our new colleagues who will join the company next spring to understand the shipbuilding work flow and to experience Kyokuyo's corporate culture.
We would like to sincerely thank the "real" shipowner, Epic Samos Pte. Ltd. for generously allowing us to conduct this event on and around their own vessel.
