KISBER is designed for maximum loading capacity. By making the vessel as wide as logically possible within the 120m length limitation, a loading capacity of 11,000 cubic meters was achieved.
Since the length/width ratio is less than 6, the hull form has been thoroughly tested for propulsive performance in a towing tank, maneuverability in a circulating water channel, and free running in a seakeeping basin.
To ensure propulsive performance, course stability and compliance with the IMO standards for ship maneuverability, the vessel is equipped with a special rudder with a surf valve that converts aft propeller flow into propulsive force.
In anticipation of the regulations taking effect, KISBER is also fitted with ballast water management system, sewage holding tank and equipment/tanks for low sulfur fuels. It is also noted that the gas carrier meets the revised SOLAS noise limits even though she is not subject to the regulation.
