For Delivery Ceremony for Kyokuyo's Own Tug Boat NADA MARU

The tugboat NADA MARU, whose launch was reported in news287, was completed and a delivery ceremony was held at Odo Shipbuilding & Engineering Co., Ltd. in Shimonoseki City on April 15.

Launching Ceremony for Kyokuyo's Own Tug Boat NADA MARU
On March 1, under,,, not ideal weather conditions, a launching ceremony was held at Shimonoseki. No, no, it was not for a ship we built for a customer, but for our own tug boat that was being built by our friend Odo Shipbuilding & Engineering Co., Ltd!

NEWS 280 : REAL CEREMONY, AFTER VIRTUAL DISCUSSIONS

Keel-laying of S-561 Reefer Boat
On Monday, September 6, 2021, at 10:30 a.m., the keel-laying ceremony was held at our block factory for a 205,000 CFT refrigerated cargo carrier S-561. The client, Koo's Shipping Company, S.A., is one of the leading owners of reefer vessels in Taiwan.

NEWS 277 : THE BOYS ARE NOW OFFICIALLY ASSIGNED!

After the 3-month training in shipbuilding technology at the Oita Regional Shipbuilding Craftsmanship Center (ORSCC, Saiki City, Oita Prefecture) and subsequent work rotation in the Manufacturing Department in July, the nine new high school graduates were officially assigned to the shipyard as of August 1.

After Completing Special Training Program in Oita under COVID-19
Every year, we send our new technical staff to the Oita Regional Shipbuilding Craftsmanship Center (ORSC, Saiki City, Oita Prefecture) for shipbuilding technology training. Last year's program was cancelled due to the Corona disaster, but this year's training was successfully held despite some changes in the curriculum.

2021 Welcoming Ceremony
On April 1st, Kyokuyo's welcoming ceremony for fiscal year 2021 was held, under the cherry blossoms unexpectedly in full bloom. Since we were in the middle of an outbreak of the Covid-19, we took measures to prevent the spread of infection, such as keeping a sufficient distance between each attendee.

Mr. Zamviri Ahmad Washoya ("Zam-san") from Indonesia joined our company on December 1, 2020 and was assigned to our Fundamental Design Section of Hull Design Department.

Coming-of-Age Day (2nd Monday of January - national public holiday) celebrates those who are turning 20, becoming adults under the Japanese laws. The celebration is a part of Japanese culture, and the formal ceremony, typically organized by local cities today, has become a very important event to many young adults.

Tetsuo Mitsui Received Prime Minister's Prize at the 8th Monodzukuri Nippon Grand Award
Tetsuo Mitsui, Senior Managing Director and the boss of designing team of Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation has received the Prime Minister's Prize at the 8th Monodzukuri Nippon Grand Award ceremony, for the merit of his invention and commercialization of the SSS (semi-spherically-shaped) bowed ship which contributes to fuel and CO2 saving by effectively reducing the wind pressure.

59th 'KYOKUYO OPEN' Golf Tournament
On October 11, 2019, the 59th 'Kyokuyo Open' Golf Tournament was held at Shimonoseki Golden Golf Club under a cloudless autumn sky. As you SHOULD know well, 'Kyokuyo Open' is a golf competition that Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation organizes every year to express our gratitude towards our equipment and material suppliers, subcontractors, outsourcees and other stakeholders. This year, we invited 107 avid and casual golfers who played in 28 groups.

Tough Fight in the 2019 Shimonoseki Cutter Race
Kyokuyo Blue Stars is the Kyokuyo Shipyard's official rowing team. Since their formation in 2016, the atheletes participated in the 'Shimonoseki Cutter Race' twice, in 2017 and 2018, but failed to advance to the quarter final race twice. Naturally, our Blue Stars were keenly looking for the 2019 Race, as the perfect opportunity for revenge.

Return of Young Fellows from Oita Training Center
2 new recruits, who were dispatched to Oita just after joining Kyokuyo on April 7, successfully completed their 3-month training program at the Oita Regional Shipbuilding Craftsmanship Center and returned to Shimonoseki.

58th 'KYOKUYO OPEN' Ended Without Upset

For those who live in Japan, 2018 will be remembered as a year of big typhoons. With the first one, called Bolaven, being born just on the 3rd day of the year, we had already 26 typhoons so far, and 5 out of 26 had directly hit the Japanese archipelago. The typhoon can take place year-round, but its 'high season' in Japan is between August and October. It can therefore give a concern, a headache, troubles, or even actual damages to the organizing team of 'Kyokuyo Open' golf tournament, usually held in the first half of October every year.
