For Japanese society, the month of April has special meaning, because a school year and a standard account year start together with this month. Yes, it is the season for freshmen and freshwomen!
Another 831TEU type container carrier, S-452, was launched at our dockyard on March 9, 2004. She is "middle daughter" among the 3 sisters ordered by SITC Maritime (Group) Co., Ltd., international liner operator based on Shandong Province of China.
Our first big event in 2004 was the delivery ceremony for m.v. Arklow Wind, the second cargo vessel ordered by Arklow Shipping of Ireland.
Clear weather, warm sunshine and soft sea breeze - it was such a perfect day for celebrating! On December 27, 2003, two ceremonies, one for launching of S-451 and the other for keel-laying of S-452, took place at once in our dockyard.
On October 20, 2003, we celebrated the naming and launching of a multi-purpose cargo vessel "S448" at our dockyard. She is a sister ship of m.v. "Arklow Wave", which we covered in the previous issue.
On October 16 and 17, 2003, we carried out the sea trial of m.v. "Arklow Wave", 13,650tdw type multi-purpose cargo vessel ordered by Arklow Shipping from Ireland.

A brand new contract was signed between Kyokuyo and Kasuga Kaiun K.K..
We started the year 2003 with a busy month, giving birth to 2 new building ships only at 2 days interval!

On November 12, a clear autumn day, the naming and launching ceremony for our cement carrier S-443 (do you remember her?) took place at our shipyard.
As of October 1, 2002, an organizational change of our Constructions Division was announced. This first structural reform officially revealed by our new management marks our first step to shift from the conservative organization to a modern, more efficiency-oriented one.
