NEWS 244 : TETSUO MITSUI AWARDED PRIZE (AGAIN)!
2018 Commendation from the MILT Minister
Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation is glad to let you know that Tetsuo Mitsui, who is leading its design team since more than a decade and known as 'father' of Kyokuyo's SSS (Semi-spherical shaped) bow, was awarded a commendation from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

Naming & Delivery of 670TEU Container Ship with SSS Bow
We are happy to report the birth of our fifth SSS-bowed vessel, named "NAGARA" (S-547). The ship, ordered by Imoto Lines, Ltd., is a container carrier that transports up to 670 TEU.
NEWS 240 : CEREMONIES FOR NEW STAR
Naming & Delivery of STRAITS STAR - 7,500m3 LPG Carrier
May 21, 2018 was the day for the naming and delivery of the S539, a 7,500m3 L.P.G. carrier ordered by Straits Star S.A.. The ceremony was attended by the guests, from her charterers, owners and other stake holders.

2018 TITP Technical Interns from Philippines
On April 18, 4 young guys from Philippines begun working at Kyokuyo. They are interns under the Government's Technical Intern Training Program (TITP), who had completed their orientation courses - including lectures about Japanese language, business manner, traffic rules etc. - after their arrival in Japan last March.

Naming & Delivery of Semi-refrigerated L.P.G. Carrier "PGC EIRINI"
Our first delivery ceremony in 2018 was that for S533, a semi-refrigerated type L.P.G. carrier of 7,000m3, ordered by Paradise Gas Carriers Corp. She is the younger sister of "PGC TAORMINA", born 5 months ago.

Naming & Delivery of 7,000m3 Semi-ref Gas Carrier "PGC TAORMINA"
On October 11, we were blessed with lovely autumn weather for the naming and delivery ceremonies of S532, a semi-refrigerated type 7,000m3 liquefied gas carrier. Mr. Constantinos Tsakiris, President and Director of the owning company, Paradise Gas Carriers Corp., accompanied his partner Mrs. Sorina Lazar and his daughter Kyveli to this event.

On July 15, we held the naming and delivery ceremonies of the second 7,500m3 L.P.G. carrier for Paradise Gas Carriers Corp., S530, under clear sky that told us the raining season would be leaving soon.

In the news 225, we introduced to you our 7 newcomers who joined us in April. The 2 high school graduates, Taro and Yoshihiro, recently came back from Oita, where they spent lonely (?) 3 months, far away from their home town, to attend the professional training program offered by Oita Regional Shipbuilding Craftsmanship Center.

Naming & Delivery Ceremonies for LPG Carrier "PGC PATREAS"
On May 26 took place the naming and delivery ceremonies for S529, a 7,500m3 type L.P.G. carrier we built for Paradise Gas Carriers Corp. of Greece. Mr. Constantinos Tsakiris, Chairman of Paradise Gas Carriers Corp. and other guests who traveled all the way from Greece were greeted by an impressive blue sky.
NEWS 226 : GOODBYE FOR NOW
Naming & Delivery of 11,000m3 LPG Carrier "EPIC SALINA"
The last ship in the 11,000m3 L.P.G. carrier series for EPIC Gas Ltd. was completed and delivered to the owner on March 29, 2017. The ceremonies were attended by guests including Mr. Ben Martin, Head of Gas Shipping with global commodities trading company Trafigura and his wife Mrs. Kathryn Martin from Holman Fenwick Willan. It was Mrs. Kathryn Martin who was the ship's sponsor.

Naming & Delivery Ceremonies for S527 "EPIC SARDINIA"
This time we feature the 4th newbuilding ship of 11,000m3 type L.P.G. carrier for EPIC Gas Ltd., which we delivered recently. In the news220, covering her closest elder sister, "EPIC SAMOS", we wrote that after "Singapore (Sentosa), Japan (Shikoku) and now Greece (Samos). What is the next destination the owner will pick for the fourth sister?" The answer is Sardinia, of Italy!
NEWS 223 : ONE DAY OF SKI WITH "JOOJI-SAN"
Mr. Georgios Koutsoukos, or "Jooji-san" as we call him, is the newbuilding superintendent for Paradise Gas Carriers. As he is a ski lover, some of us invited him to go skiing, to make his long stay at Shimonoseki more enjoyable.

Naming Ceremony for 12,000tdw Cement Carrier "KIYOYASU MARU"
We are happy to let you know that yet another SSS (Semi-spherically-shaped) bowed ship was born. After pure car carriers and a container carrier, it was a 12,000tdw type cement carrier that was fitted with Kyokuyo's globally patented technology.
