NEWS 195 : BLOOMING OF CAMELLIA
2 weeks after the "mock" ceremonies, the real naming and delivery ceremonies for the 1,103TEU container carrier took place on March 27, 2014. The ship, or S518 as we called her, was the youngest of 2 ship-series ordered by TVL Marine (HK) Co., Limited.
For Kyokuyo's last big event for the fiscal year 2014 (that ended on March 31), gathered more than 30 guests, including among others Mr. Lee Chien-Fa, Chairman of the owner, and his wife Mrs. Yu Shu-Chuan, and Mr. Luan Wen-Chin, Vice Chairman and his wife Mrs. Lee Kuei-Chu. Just like the case of the sister ship m.v. Sunny Calla, gentlemen from the Korean operator also participated the event.
It was a warm and peaceful spring day, after a chilly night. Onboard the vessel, under the flags of Taiwan, Korea and Japan flying together, Mrs. Lee Kuei-Chu was the star of the day. The Vice Chairman's wife played 2 roles : she first gave the name of "Sunny Camellia" to the ship and then axed the tethering rope as sponsor. Amidst the loud applause, the brand new container carrier was delivered to the owner.
While wishing all the best for Camellia and Calla, We would like to thank their owner once again, for choosing Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation. We also feel grateful for the kind invitation to their BIG Chinese end-of-year party held on February 14 at Taipei. While there were as many as 850 guests, the Kyokuyo's president was offered a seat next to Mr. Lee! (see photo on the right)
