NEWS 321 : UNDER THE MISTY SKY OF HANA-GUMORI
1,096TEU Container Carrier "A SUWA" Named and Delivered
The Japanese custom of hanami, or cherry blossom viewing, where parties are held under the cherry blossoms in full bloom, is well known. The spring cherry blossoms, which bloom and fall at the same time, have long held great significance in our culture as a symbol of beauty and transience.
The Japanese language has a number of words beginning with "hana" (=flowers, especially cherry blossoms) that are used to describe the season. For example, "hana-bie" (hana + cold) is a cold day that comes around the time when the cherry blossoms are in bloom. A heart disturbed by the cherry blossoms is called "hana-zukare" (hana + fatigue).

This ceremony was held on April 26, a day with a bright, cloudy and hazy sky, or "Hana-gumori" (hana + cloud), typical of the cherry blossom season, for the naming and delivery ceremony of S572, the sixth vessel in the series of 1,096 TEU container ships. The ceremony was attended by guests from NEW GENERAL AVIATION INTERNATIONAL PTE.LTD, the owner of the vessel, and Marubeni Corporation.
After the raising of the flag and the presentation of bouquets at the beginning of the ceremony, the ship was named "A SUWA" and the rope was cut. With the flags being exchanged, "A SUWA" was born with a loud and proud whistle.
We have delivered six ships in this series. Team Kyokuyo will continue to work together to improve the quality of our products and services.
