Do you remember the first ship we delivered in 2016 was "EPIC SENTOSA", a 11,000m3 LPG carrier ? Do you also remember that we built her sister "EPIC SHIKOKU" in May ? Now, our last ship for 2016 was their youngest sibling, "EPIC SAMOS"!

Blessed with ideal weather for ship naming ceremony, sunny sky and pleasant breeze, we invited Mr. Domenik Nizet (Senior Vice President, DVB Bank SE Singapore Branch and DVB Group Merchant Bank (Asia) Ltd) and his wife Delia Myrna, Mr. Charles Maltby (Chairman and CEO of EPIC Gas Ltd.) and other important guests to the ceremonial venue built by "EPIC SAMOS", berthing at our quay No.1.

It was Mrs. Delia Myrna Nizet, who took the spotlight during the ceremony. After having pleasantly surprised all the attendants by officially naming the ship using Japanese language, she elegantly cut the guy rope that held a commemorative bottle of champagne suspended in midair - the bottle smashed against the ship's hull and that was the climax of the day. It was nice to see multicolored paper ribbons and confetti falling against bright blue sky background!

You may also remember that this series of ships are named by the owner after islands. As you know, Samos is a Greek island in the eastern Aegean Sea, known as the birthplace of goddess Hera and Pythagoras (of Pythagorean theorem). Heraion of Samos, sanctuary to Hera, together with Pythagoreion, archaeological site of an ancient town, were designated as UNESCO World Heritage Site.
