On April 10, a launching ceremony was carried out to celebrate S485, the first of a series of 16,000m2 PCTCs (Pure Car/Truck Carriers) Kyokuyo is building for a Europe-based customer.
April 1, the first day of a fiscal year, is the day of personnel assignment and reassignment of Kyokuyo, like many other Japanese firms. This year, no less than 20 employees were reassigned, and most cases are that of mid-level members who gained appointment to a higher or management position within the framework of the managerial challenge for organizational rejuvenation.
On March 24, naming and delivery ceremonies for a 13,400tdw type multi-purpose cargo ship took place. The vessel, code-named S492, was ordered by Diomedes World S.A. to be chartered out to Carisbrooke Shipping of England. The ceremonies were attended by 15 guests including Carisbrooke Managing Director Mr. Ian Walker and his wife Janet, and ex-Managing Director Mr. Willem Wester and his wife Heleen, among others.
As explained in the news079, Kyokuyo Shipyard presents a gift every year to the employees who have just reached 20 years of age, on the occasion of "Seijin-no-Hi", Japanese coming-of-age day. Being celebrated on the second Monday of January, this national holiday fell on January 12 this year. We held our ceremony on 9th, the working day immediately before Seijin-no-Hi.
Our last big event of 2008 was the naming and delivery ceremonies held on December 11 for S-481, 845TEU geared container carrier.
You probably know that we received an order for 4 sister container carriers of 847 TEU and have already delivered 3 ships, named SINOTRANS BEIJING, SINOTRANS SHENZHEN and SINOTRANS NINGBO respectively.
On May 30, 2008 took place, at our shipyard, the naming and delivery ceremonies for a 847TEU container carrier S-478, 3rd of 4 sister ships ordered by China's SINOTRANS group.
On February 1st, an 847 TEU type container carrier, code-named S475, was delivered to her Hong Kong based owner, Trade Integrity Shipping Limited. She is the eldest of the series of 4 vessels.
"Seijin no hi" (Day of Adults, literally) is the Japanese coming-of-age day, held on the second Monday in January. To celebrate its employees who reaches the age of 20, Kyokuyo Shipyard presents them a gift on that day every year.
Kyokuyo's last big event in 2006 was joint ceremony for naming and delivery of S467 and naming of S468 held on December 5. The 13,400tdw multi-purpose cargo boats are sister No.3 and No.4 ordered by Carisbrooke Shipping Holdings Limited.
Annual milestone award celebration was held on October 5. The award is offered to the employees who have reached a specific landmark in their career - beginning with the 10th year of continuous service and subsequent 10 years increment of time.
July 13, 2006 was the day of the naming and delivery ceremony for S465, 8th vessel among the series of container carriers ordered by our close and important client, SITC Maritime (Group) Co., Ltd. of Qingdao, China.
February 28, 2006 was a day of double happiness, because two ceremonies took place to commemorate the naming and delivery of S462 and the naming of S463, sister multi-purpose cargo vessels ordered by Carisbrooke Shipping Holding Limited.
Kyokuyo's last big event in 2005 was the naming and delivery of S458, 12,000tdw multi-purpose cargo carrier ordered by Swiss company SCL.
On September 25, Kyokuyo delivered a 180,000cft refrigerated cargo carrier, S-461. The vessel, with fish processing equipments installed onboard, is the latest and also a milestone product in our continuing line of ultra-low temperature reefer technologies.
July 29 was the day of naming and delivery ceremonies for S457, 12,000tdw multi-purpose cargo boat. It is the third sister we built for Swiss-based SCL, after SCL BERN and SCL THUN as we reported already.
On May 12, shortly after Japan's "Golden Week", we delivered a 12,000tdw multi-purpose heavy lifter, built by order of Swiss owner, SCL Reederei AG.
The first vessel that Kyokuyo has built in 2005 is a multi-purpose heavy lifter ordered by our Swiss based client, SCL Reederei AG. The ship, code-named "S455", is also the first of four sisters we will build for SCL.
Our last big event in 2004 was the ceremony to celebrate the launching of S455 and the keel-laying of S456. These are 12,000tdw type multi-purpose cargo vessels to be built for account of a Switzerland based owner, Enzian Shipping.
The third cargo vessel ordered by our Irish customer, Arklow Shipping, was named and delivered on November 16, 2004.
