NEWS 116 : KYOKUYO INVESTS IN NEW 3D HULL DESIGN SYSTEM
Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation has recently entered into a contract with AVEVA K.K. for introduction of its "AVEVA Marine", highly acclaimed 3D ship design system.
AVEVA Marine is the most advanced software solution available today in the field of naval engineering and used in major and bigger shipbuilders in Japan and other countries. We believe it is an indispensable tool for Kyokuyo to "keep differentiating ourselves from our competitors by focusing on technically challenging and high-value added vessels" - company strategy announced by its president (see news109 "New Year's Greetings").
Before AVEVA Marine, the company introduced another 3D software for outfitting design 2 years ago. Through the production of the recent series of PCC's, the system was proved effective in piping design to save labors and reduce error rate. We expect this investment will help us to take one step further toward productivity improvement, by streamlining the whole processes of hull design and production design which are partly overlapping in a redundant way.
In the near future, a small expert team will create all the initial and basic hull designs of Kyokuyo, while detailed production designs will be drawn in a timely manner taking advantage of AVEVA Marine. In the factory, the new software's ability to output intuitive 3D images (freely rotatable) and indicate the gravity center position of a building bloc will greatly assist the workers to precisely and quickly produce the ship hulls.
Kyokuyo will keep doing our best to further strengthen its strong technical abilities!
