As mentioned in the previous news reporting Natori, a container carrier built last year by Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation, won the "Award for Development of Technology that Reduces the Environmental Impact for Logistic Operations", the same ship has now been awarded the "Best Small Cargo Ship" in the 2015 Japanese Ship of the Year event hosted by the Japan Society of Naval Architects and Ocean Engineers (JASNAOE), and the award ceremony was held on July 7, 2016.
Imoto Lines, Ltd., as owner of the container ship "Natori", won the "Award for Development of Technology that Reduces the Environmental Impact for Logistic Operations" at the 17th Logistics Environment Awards, organized by Japan Association for Logistics and Transport (JALoT).

On October 7, Kyokuyo Shipyard held a long service award ceremony to honor its employees who had achieved 10 or 20 years of continuous service.
As explained in the president's new year statement, Kyokuyo is undertaking extensive improvements to its production process this year. The first result was the refurbishment of the pre-fabrication shop - the home of pre-fabrication team within Hull Construction Section.
In this issue we will introduce new employees who joined Kyokuyo this April. This year, we welcomed 5 new comers, including 2 college graduates (photo : below) who have just completed in-house training programs for 2 months.
J:COM Shimonoseki, local cable TV station, is running a program called "Iki-iki Shimin Kouza" (Be active! Open Lecture for Citizens) since 2007. Planned and operated by NPO "Iki-iki Monitaa Kaigi" (Be active! Monitoring Committee), lectures, in form of monologue or dialogue, are given twice a month by various guest speakers on a wide range of subjects, and are broadcasted as an hour-long TV program.

On November 7, 2014, Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation conducted its biennial fire drill under the leadership of Shimonoseki East Fire Station. It was a big program, which involved more than 50 staffs, including members of Kyokuyo's own fire brigade team. The fire station provided instructors and firefighters, a commander's van and pumpers.
Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation is happy to announce that Tetsuo Mitsui, its Senior Managing Director, received 2014 Kyushu District Transport Bureau Director-General's Award. The District Transport Bureau is an arm of Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MILT).
For Kyokuyo it is important to have good employees and keep them happy and motivated. In this entry, we introduce some of our internal news related to the employee welfare.
It's April again and we are going to introduce our new employees. This year, we welcomed 6 fresh crew members.
On March 1, 2014, Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation jointly organized a inter-company shipbuilding skills competition with Onomichi Dockyard, Co., Ltd. The idea of this competition, which was to motivate young technicians to improve their skills through exciting events, was born from conversations between the presidents of the 2 companies quite a while ago. Since then, the both companies have been working together toward the realization of this unprecedented competition.

On October 31, Kyokuyo Shipyard signed a contract with Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd. for construction of a company dormitory for single employees (note : builder is Daiwa. Not Kyokuyo). The dorm is scheduled to be built by March 2014 in Chofu area, Simonoseki, next to the existing Saikawa Ryo which is now mainly used as trainees' apartment house.
