On August 27 was the day of... the 6th Shimonoseki Cutter Race ! It was sunny and windless, as the organizer wished, but exceptionally hot for the end of August. Finally, no less than 600 athletes, in 65 teams, participated in this popular event held in our home town.
As matter of fact, Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation hosts many competitions. You probably know some of them, including "Kyokuyo Open" annual golf tournament, and the inter-company skills competition with Onomichi Zosen. But how about this one - "Blind tasting competition" with JFE group of companies?
Yeah, another year has passed. It's October again, so we hosted Kyokuyo Open Golf Tournament to renew our gratitude to our valuable suppliers, sub-contractors, outsourcees and other guests. There is a Shintô shrine called "Iminomiya Jinja" in Chôfu quarter of Shimonoseki City, where Kyokuyo Shipyard is located. You may have seen its guardian before, as we ask him to attend our keel-laying and other ceremonies, if they are held with Shintô rites.

Hello, It has been almost 2 years since I posted the last column about our hometown! This time, I am going to introduce "Senteisai" (literal meaning : "festival for the late Emperor"), traditional festival that takes place every year between May 2 and 4 at Shimonoseki.
