...and Further Working on New Version, Too
In recent years, we have more and more environmental disasters like typhoons or torrential rains probably because of the global warming. What's worse here, scientists are worried about the possibility of "Tokyo Inland Earthquake", which may directly hit the metropolitan areas, or "Nankai Trough Earthquakes", huge ones, which will occur on the Pacific side of the south Japan sometime in the future. And how about the heavy snow? tornadoes? volcanic eruptions? virus outbreak? Our concerns are endless.

Tetsuo Mitsui Received Prime Minister's Prize at the 8th Monodzukuri Nippon Grand Award
Tetsuo Mitsui, Senior Managing Director and the boss of designing team of Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation has received the Prime Minister's Prize at the 8th Monodzukuri Nippon Grand Award ceremony, for the merit of his invention and commercialization of the SSS (semi-spherically-shaped) bowed ship which contributes to fuel and CO2 saving by effectively reducing the wind pressure.

NEWS 257 : WITH BEAUTIFUL SHADES OF BLUE

Naming & Delivery of 1,096TEU Container "TS YOKOHAMA"
On November 13, the second 1,096TEU container carrier we built for T.S. Lines was named and delivered. Like her sister built in August, the new ship - S546 - was painted in sapphire blue, which looked great with light azure late autumn sky.

59th 'KYOKUYO OPEN' Golf Tournament
On October 11, 2019, the 59th 'Kyokuyo Open' Golf Tournament was held at Shimonoseki Golden Golf Club under a cloudless autumn sky. As you SHOULD know well, 'Kyokuyo Open' is a golf competition that Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation organizes every year to express our gratitude towards our equipment and material suppliers, subcontractors, outsourcees and other stakeholders. This year, we invited 107 avid and casual golfers who played in 28 groups.

August 23 was the day of the departure of our latest product, S545. We had been a little bit anxious after bad weather on previous days, but the blue sky shining through the morning clouds melted our worries away.

Tough Fight in the 2019 Shimonoseki Cutter Race
Kyokuyo Blue Stars is the Kyokuyo Shipyard's official rowing team. Since their formation in 2016, the atheletes participated in the 'Shimonoseki Cutter Race' twice, in 2017 and 2018, but failed to advance to the quarter final race twice. Naturally, our Blue Stars were keenly looking for the 2019 Race, as the perfect opportunity for revenge.

Return of Young Fellows from Oita Training Center
2 new recruits, who were dispatched to Oita just after joining Kyokuyo on April 7, successfully completed their 3-month training program at the Oita Regional Shipbuilding Craftsmanship Center and returned to Shimonoseki.

On Monday, May 27, a factory tour in the early summer sunshine was offered by Kyokuyo for 32 students from Yumeagaoka Junior High School of Shimonoseki City.

Naming & Delivery of 307,000ft3 Reefer "BOYANG ALASKA"
On March 29, when spring was at its best, the naming and delivery ceremonies for a 307,000cft refrigerated cargo carrier were held at our berth No.1 in the warm sunshine. The chairman, CEO from Boyang Ltd. and other VIPs got together to celebrate the birth of the new ship, code-named S-543, ordered by Boyang Bering S.A.

Naming & Delivery of 307,000ft3 Reefer "BOYANG BERING"

Kyokuyo's first newbuilding ceremonies in 2019 were for S-540, 307,000ft3 reefer carrier ordered by Boyang Alaska, S.A. On January 8, Boyang's Chairman, President, Director and Director's beloved daughter came to our factory to celebrate the birth and naming of the new ship.

NEWS 245 : STOP THE TYPHOON!

58th 'KYOKUYO OPEN' Ended Without Upset

For those who live in Japan, 2018 will be remembered as a year of big typhoons. With the first one, called Bolaven, being born just on the 3rd day of the year, we had already 26 typhoons so far, and 5 out of 26 had directly hit the Japanese archipelago. The typhoon can take place year-round, but its 'high season' in Japan is between August and October. It can therefore give a concern, a headache, troubles, or even actual damages to the organizing team of 'Kyokuyo Open' golf tournament, usually held in the first half of October every year.

Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation is glad to let you know that Tetsuo Mitsui, who is leading its design team since more than a decade and known as 'father' of Kyokuyo's SSS (Semi-spherical shaped) bow, was awarded a commendation from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

Kyokuyo Blue Stars @ 2018 Shimonoseki Cutter Boat Race

On July 15, we had the hottest event of this.. already incredibly hot summer. It was (drumming) the 7th Shimonoseki Cutter Race ! If you still remember that the race is one of the big sport events annually hosted by our home town Shimonoseki, you probably remember also that the first ever challenge of our official boat team, "Kyokuyo Blue Stars", ended in bitter disappointment last year.

Naming & Delivery of 670TEU Container Ship with SSS Bow
We are happy to report the birth of our fifth SSS-bowed vessel, named "NAGARA" (S-547). The ship, ordered by Imoto Lines, Ltd., is a container carrier that transports up to 670 TEU.

NEWS 241 : KYOKUYO APPOINTS 2 NEW DIRECTORS

Kyokuyo has today announced the appointment of two new directors. At the Board of Director's meeting and the shareholders' meeting that were held on June 28, 2018, the board and the shareholders approved the appointment of Norihiko Harada as Vice President of the company and Hiroshi Yoshida as Managing Director of the company, with immediate effect. Takashi Nagatomi, former Managing Director, has been reappointed as part-time Director.
