NEWS 036 : NOW IT'S TURN OF SITC YOKOHAMA
The naming and delivery ceremonies for a 831TEU type container carrier, aka "SITC YOKOHAMA" was held on her board on August 26, 2004. She is the 7th sister ordered by SITC Maritime (Group) Co., Ltd.
For the newly born vessel, the coming of autumn brought us a warm sunshine and cool breeze, taking away bad memories of record heat waves and powerful typhoons which hit Japan this summer.
More than 35 guests, including the shipowner, Mr. and Mrs. Yang, attended to celebrate the new ship. After elegantly named by Mrs. Yang, "SITC YOKOHAMA" set out on her maiden voyage.
In the reception party, which took place in the afternoon of the same day, we had an extra event : signing ceremony of the provisional agreement for sister ships No.10 and No.11(!). We were happy enough to be able to feel the relationship between SITC and Kyokuyo was even further strengthened through this ceremony for additional orders.
This exceptionally fruitful relationship was then celebrated by the Deputy Mayor of Shimonoseki City and the Deputy Chief of Shimonoseki Port Authority, in hearty speeches. Mr. Ejima, Mayor of the city, also gave us a congratulatory message.
Mr. Ejima said in 2004, the 25th anniversary year since Qingdao - Shimonoseki friendship city agreement was made, it was the city's intention to further reinforce exchange and cooperation with China in many aspects. The Mayor, who was especially happy to know Kyokuyo received high technical and commercial evaluations from SITC, further stated that he wished the extremely good international relationship between the two companies would continue forever.
In a friendly and warm atmosphere, the reception party was ended, and everyone looked in a mood of happiness. Best wishes for "SITC YOKOHAMA"!
