NEWS 301 : WELCOME! GUESTS FROM EUROPE AFTER A LONG TIME
Ceremony for 1,096TEU Container Ship FEEDER ACE
On October 13, the naming and delivery ceremony for vessel S565 was held on a clear and calm autumn afternoon. This ship was a 1,096 TEU JAPANMAX container carrier ordered by ERASMUS SHIPINVEST GROUP (ESI), a Greece-based international shipping group.
To this ceremony we were able to invite Mr. Marios Kyriakopoulos, executive director CFO of ESI, Mr. Nikolas Ritsos from BRS, a global shipbroking group headquartered in France, and other guests from Europe for the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak. It was our great pleasure to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Genji Okochi, President of Doun Kisen Co., Ltd.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the flags of Greece, France, and Japan were hoisted to the accompaniment of their national anthems, symbolizing the business conducted by the leaders in their respective fields. After Mr. Kyriakopoulos declared FEEDER ACE, the tethering rope was gracefully cut by Ms. Chiyo Okochi, the wife of Mr. Genji Okochi. The ceremony ended with the exchange of company flags amidst fireworks in the clear sky and confetti flying from a "kusudama" paper ball.
ESI is mainly a bulker owner, and we understand that the FEEDER ACE is their first vessel to enter the container ship sector. We are very happy that Kyokuyo Shipbuilding was selected to build this important first vessel, as we take pride in our containership construction. We will continue to work diligently toward the delivery of the second vessel, which is currently under construction, so that we can meet their expectations.
