NEWS 328 : OCEAN-CLASS STRENGTH, COASTAL PRECISION
We are proud to announce the delivery of the new 1,000 TEU container carrier, S-578 "Kako," to Imoto Lines Ltd. on November 29, 2024.
We have built the best new coastal container carrier on the market, based on our renowned ocean-going feeder ships. Every detail has been reimagined with domestic container transport in mind. We have adopted an innovative wing hull shape, optimized the rudder and bow thruster, and significantly increased refrigerated container loading capacity.
Furthermore, the bow section of the vessel is equipped with a windshield that is a continuation of our patented "spherical-shaped-bowed" bridge used on three of the smaller 600 TEU container vessels we have built for the same shipowner, the NATORI (2015), NAGARA (2018), and NOGAMI (2022). We have also implemented many other wind resistance ideas, resulting in a significant improvement in fuel efficiency.
At the celebration party, which was held at a hotel in the Shimonoseki city, we received congratulatory messages from Mr. Yoshifumi Miyatake, Director General of the Maritime Bureau, and Mr. Masahiro Inada, Director General of the Port and Harbor Bureau. Mr. Masayuki Takada, Vice President of Yokohama Kawasaki International Port & Harbor Corporation, then proposed a toast to kick off the party.
The party was in full swing when the KAKO made a grand appearance in the Kanmon Straits as seen from the venue.
We would like to thank the engineering team at Imoto Lines and President Imoto for their invaluable contributions to the construction of this vessel.
We will use the experience gained through the construction of this ship to build an even better ship in the future!
