NEWS 183 : KEEL LAID FOR THE NEWEST JAPANMAX

The keel-laying ceremony for a 1,103TEU container carrier took place on July 3, 2014. Code-named S517, she is the eldest of 2-sister series ordered by Taiwan-based TVL Shipping Company Limited.

Keel-laying Ceremony for S517 Container Carrier

The vessel is the latest generation of Kyokuyo's popular "Japanmax" container feeder line. Our design team has managed to increase the capacity from its original 784TEU to more than 1,100TEU in 15 years, while keeping its gross tonnage below 10,000 tons.

To answer the latest needs of our customers and to technological and regulatory developments, S517 has also been given new features : a derated main engine system and higher efficiency propeller to improve fuel economy ; bigger capacity for refrigerated container load ; and enhanced paint specifications, to name a few.

We welcomed Mr. Frank Roan, Vice Chairman of TVL Marine Company Ltd., and 4 other gentlemen to attend the ceremony. With Mr. Roan pressing the START button, the building process for the vessel was safely launched (photo on right). The ritual in traditional Japanese style offered to the guests good opportunities for photos and videos during the ceremony!

We would like to thank TVL Shipping Company Limited for their first order with us. We will do our best to meet their expectations!
